Tree Surgery - This is the practice of removing trees in the safest possible manner, it usually entails climbing the tree and removing in sections. 

Tree Pruning - There are different ways of pruning a tree which includes:-

Crown lifting which is removing lower limbs to increase height clearance. 

Crown reduction which is the removal of smaller branches, usually located at the outer crown to produce a smaller uniform tree. 

Crown thinning which is to remove branches from within the crown and canopy to keep the size of the tree but to let more light pass through the tree. 

Tree pollard which is a pruning system in which the upper branches of a tree are removed, promoting a dense head of foliage and branches. 

Dead wooding which is simply removing all of the dead wood from within the tree.
